Oozes History

Kookaburra Dream was a nice surprise. My husband and I are seasoned backpackers and the service here was second to none. We were very comfortable in a large queen room that contained bric a brac from the past. Room and bathrooms and kitchen were clean and the complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. The building, as the old gentlemen's club, is fascinating and well restored. It is nice to find affordable accommodation in an area which appears to cater for mainly expensive weekend retreats from Perth.

The only downside for us (because we are a little older then most backpackers) was the need to go outside our building to visit the bathroom especially if the weather is a bit cool.

York is a town with blast from the past - there is a heap of history and the court house and motor museum are a must. There is also a lovely walk along the river. The town hall and visitor centre highlighted the historical value of almost every building in the main street. The local Chinese restaurant was good value also.
